Elliot returns with Easy Virtue

by

Director Stephan Elliot, who made a mark with Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, makes a comeback with the comedy Easy Virtue, based on Noel Coward’s 1924 play. Elliot has been absent from screens since 1999’s Eye of the Beholder.

The film, shooting for which is underway in London, is about an American divorcée who must deal with her hostile in-laws after an impulsive south of France wedding to an Englishman. Colin Firth, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jessica Biel and Ben Barnes lead the cast.

Elliott said, “Our aim is to create a totally modern movie, breathing life into a classic genre for a new audience.”

The Ealing Studios production has financing by Endgame Entertainment, Prescience and the BBC, with Odyssey Entertainment handling international sales.
