The festival also features a competition of films made by children up to 15 years of age, a selection that includes films about such mature topics as gang violence and war.

In Trebon, film professionals and enthusiasts alike can take part in ProfiForum, a platform which will include workshops, presentations of new animated projects, and demonstrations of animation techniques and processes.

The festival will screen 633 films from 59 countries, including two Czech titles with high international expectations: Naus, a short film from Lukas Glaser, will appear in the official programme at Cannes. Jsem vetsi a lepsi (I Am Bigger and Better), a short science-fiction film directed by Martin Duda, has been nominated for a Student Oscar from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The festival will also screen such crowd-pleasers as Ratatouille, Shrek the Third and The Simpsons Movie.

German filmmaker Raimund Krumme serves as the honorary president of this year's AniFest.
