Written by Oliver Ziegenbalg (1 1/2 Knights: In Search of the Ravishing Princess Herzelinde), Friendship is a project that Goller has been preparing for the last four years. The film is inspired by the memories of producer Thomas Zickler (who produces Til Schweiger’s films for their production company Barefoot Films).

This good-natured comedy tells the story of a young man who, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, decides to search for his father, whose only attempt at contact has been a postcard sent from San Francisco since he left the GDR over ten years ago.

This project is the first to be produced by Columbia Pictures Filmproduktion - Germany under new directors Maike Haas and Martin Bachmann, in collaboration with Wiedemann & Berg (The Lives of Others [+see also:

) and Zickler. The film is also backed by the DFFF, FFA and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

Friendship is set to be launched domestically by Sony Pictures Releasing on November 5, 2009, to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
