, coming out March 27 through Medusa Film, production house Jean Vigo Italia has a new project with the director, a co-production with the US. It is the film adaptation of American writer Peter Cameron’s recent novel, Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You, shooting of which should begin later this year.

The film, which will be shot in New York, is about a young woman from a well-to-do family in search of herself.

The company headed by Elda Ferri also has two low-budget projects lined up. The first, to be co-produced with Spain, is entitled Per il Resto del Viaggio Ho Sparato agli Indiani (“For the Rest of the Trip I Shot at Indians”). A comedy written by Fabio Geda and directed by Enrico Vecchi it centres on a young Romanian boy, Emil, who comes to Italy illegally to be with his father. The latter is deported after a fight and Emil finds himself alone in a foreign land, learning Italian by reading Tex Willer comics.

Indiani was chosen for the 37th Co-production Forum, organised at last month’s Berlinale by the European Producers Club (see news).

The second low-budget film, still without a director attached, will be Siediti e Corri (“Sit and Run”), inspired by a true event, about a group of factory workers after their factory is closed down.
