DISTRIBUTION Belgium

New joint venture deal signed

by

During the last International French-language film festival of Namur, Belgium’s and Qudbec’s French communities decided to modernise its distribution agreements through a cultural companies’ cultural development society called Sodec. The original deal was struck five years ago to increase the visibility and encourage distribution of films between the two communities.
On behalf of Belgium, the Film and Audiovisual Institute will increase its annual guaranteed funding of two Quebecois films by Euros 15,000 per film. This year’s money went to Denis Villeneuve’s Maelström and Roger Cantin’s La forteresse suspendue.
The two Belgian films whose Canadian releases will benefit from Québec cash are Strass by Vincent Lannoo and Pauline e Paulette by Lieven Debrauwer.
