I can say so. But I think these markets have a cultural difference and also the economical difference and I think this is the political question more than cultural question. Because we in the Slovenia see mostly all the really cream of the production, the film production of the world and now I can say that culture like African or Latino cultures and so on is raising up, and I think this is one good sign to open in the universal way. I mean, in the other way I think is the same. I think it’s the same. I think this is the future to be open. For the market to be open.
The problem in our country about the film production is mostly that the film is not the “main horse of the culture”, how I call that. So we are more the country of the theatrical way of culture or painting or graphic, and so on. Film was never so in high position and now sure in our new cultural politics we are now, from 2001, from last year, we are the members of the Euroimages and production in this way is open now, I think we have every year a small amount of money for co-production films and this is the start. And now we became a member of this club and members of other clubs and I think this is a question of contacts: to know each other and so on because in past time we were really close in this way. Specially in production way.
I read the good scripts, but to have really good scripts is sometimes is like to have luck on the lottery, because I get a lot of scripts from everywhere but No Man’s Land, was script which was very simple, was very classical and its only one. I have now two, three scripts I believe in it, but I must also convince some other co-producers to believe in it”.
