Aged 26, Anna Maria Mühe made her film acting debut in 2001 with Maria von Heland's Big girls don’t cry, which earned her the Best Actress award at Festival International de Cine las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 2003. A year later, she won the Best Actress award at the Copenhagen Film Festival for her lead in Achim von Borries' Love in thoughts.
