Malaysian director Chong Keat Aun has presented his second feature Snow in Midsummer in competition in the 20th Giornate degli Autori; the film shines a fresh spotlight on a forgotten chapter in his country's history. The protagonist returns to Kuala Lumpur 49 years after an uprising that was mercilessly stamped out, and in the cemetery for the victims of the revolt, she finds herself confronted by her own memories.
