SILENCE OF LOVE

by Philippe Claudel

synopsis

Alessandro is an Italian teacher of Baroque music who lives in Strasbourg with Irina, his fifteen-year-old daughter, who is going though a typical teenage crisis, and her brother Crampone, a sweet and crazy anarchist who has constantly been requesting political asylum ever since Berlusconi came to power. Sometimes Alessandro has the feeling he's raising two teenagers, when he doesn't even realize that he is himself powerless when it comes to existence. Wanting to be a model father, he has forgotten to build a relationship, even more so since he is surrounded by a bunch of pals whose burlesque fantasy prevents him from feeling alone. But when Irina discovers love for the first time, without expecting it, everything will be turned on its head for Alessandro.
