A DECENT MAN

by Micha Lewinsky

synopsis

Although his wife, Martina, has no time and his daughter, Jenny, no interest, Thomas, an amiable man in his mid-forties, has resolved to take a relaxing skiing holiday in the Swiss Alps. Things get more complicated than usual this year when they are joined by Sarah, his manager’s daughter. In the hope that the two 15-year-old girls will get on, Thomas allows them to spend the evening at a party in the village, despite his wife’s scepticism. The night has irrevocable consequences for both Sarah and Thomas, who is the only other person who knows what happened. Instead of tackling the problem, Thomas chooses to avoid it and becomes increasingly entwined in a web of half-truths and outright lies. He is prepared to do anything to find a ‘peaceful’ solution, if necessary by force. Micha Lewinsky’s third feature film casts a spotlight on the brilliant Devid Striesow, whose character slowly drifts from normalcy to madness.
