IN VIEW

by Ciaran Creagh

synopsis

Ruth Donnelly is a thirty-something Garda officer. Three years ago she lost everything that was dear to her. She lost her child and her husband. Her life is marked by feelings of guilt. She's a heavy drinker. She suffers swinging mood changes of depression to raging anger, losing control of her life. At work she is no longer allowed to interact with the public, spending her time reviewing CCTV footage on a monitor. Her colleagues pity her but are pretty tired of her behaviour. How do you deal with a sense of overwhelming loss and the depression that goes with it? A theme that anyone can relate to, regardless of gender, nationality and age.
