benefited from a €18 million budget. A European coproduction directed by Nord-Ouest (48 %) in partnership with German company, Senator Film Produktion (20%), British Joyeux Noël Ltd (12 %), Belgian Artémis Productions (10 %) and Romanian Mediapro Pictures (10 %), the film was also granted an advance funds of 270.000 euros from the Centre National de la Cinématographie (CNC). In addition to this, the film received support within the frame of the mini-treaty of French-German coproduction, an investment of 2 million euros from TF1 Films Production and was pre-purchased by Canal + and Ciné Cinéma.

Internationally sold by Films Distribution, Merry Christmas was the undeniable star of the Cannes market 2005. The film was acquired by Sony Pictures for a distribution in the United-States, United Kingdom, South America and Italy, but also UGC for France, Cinéart-Cinélibre for Benelux, Future Film for Scandinavia and Filmtrade for Greece.

One copy was released by UGC in France in September in the Pas-de-Calais in order to be in compliance with the selection criteria for the Academy Awards, Merry Christmas will be released on 505 copies on November 9th. The film will be released on November 24th in Germany, November 25th in Austria and Greece, November 30th in Belgium, December 1st in the Netherlands, December 2nd in Spain, December 9th in Denmark, December 16th in Finland, Italy and the United Kingdom, and December 26th in Norway.
