In addition to backing from Wallimage and Luxembourg’s FONSPA, the film also received funding from the la Communauté Française de Belgique, Germany’s MDM Förderung, the FFA, Eurimages and pre-sales from Canal +. The film also benefited from Belgian tax shelter funding and from the sale and leaseback funding system in the UK.

Irina Palm opens in France on May 9 and on April 18 in Belgium, with distribution through Paradiso in the Benelux, while Pyramide is handling international sales. After the title’s official competition screening at the Berlin Film Festival was met with enthusiasm by critics and audience alike, the film found buyers in over 30 territories.

Pre-sold to Canada as well as to Germany (X-Verleih) and Austria, the film will be released in Switzerland (Filmcoopi), Spain (Golem), Greece (Rosebud), Hungary (Budapest Film), Italy (Teodora), Poland (Gutek Film), the Czech Republic (Hollywood Classic), Scandinavia (Sandrew Metronome), Bulgaria (Vadi Van Kris), Romania (Transilvania Film), and through Cinemania in the former Yugoslavia as well as in Turkey (Denk).

Outside of Europe, the film has been acquired by Australia (Aztec) and Russia (Surreal Films), as well as most of South America (Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico), as well as three territories in Asia (Korea, Thailand and Taiwan).
