Wildcard Distribution has snapped up Steph Green’s feature debut Run & Jump [+lire aussi :

at the European Film Market at Berlin. The film will open in Irish cinemas on May 2. Run & Jump is a festival favourite having had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival last year and since then has won numerous accolades including the Best Irish Feature and Best First Feature awards at the Galway Film Fleadh and the Silver Spike award for Best Film at the Valladolid International Film Festival. It is currenty on US release where it is winning plaudits.

Co-writen by Green and Ailbhe Keogan, the film tells the story of an American doctor (Will Forte) who travels to Ireland to study the Casey family after 38-year-old husband and father Conor (Edward MacLiam) suffers a stroke which changes his personality, leaving wife Vanetia (Maxine Peake) to run the show.

An Ireland-Germany co-production, Run & Jump was produced by Tamara Anghie, Martina Niland, Astrid Kahmke and Philipp Kreuzer for Samson Films and Bavaria Film.  It was funded by the Irish Film Board, Eurimages, Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, RTÉ, Bavaria Pictures, DFFF, FFF Bayern, Senator Film München, Cine Postproduction.

Green’s short film New Boy was nominated for an Oscar in 2010.
