A month away from its 12th edition, which will be held from 16 to 24 October, Alice nella città, the independent parallel section of the Rome Film Festival dedicated to the younger generations, has announced the first films that will be shown on the opening day of the section, along with a new film district in the Pigneto quarter, where films selected for the Alice/Panorama section will be screened.

On the morning of 16 October, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica (which will host the 14 films in competition and the big premieres as it does every year), the first film in the Young/Adult competition will be shown: Le grand jour [+lire aussi :

, directed Pascal Plisson, in which four young protagonists, from all four corners of the earth, follow their dreams and prepare for the biggest test of their lives (the film is set to be released in Italian theatres in February 2016, distributed by Academy Two).

On the evening of 16 October, the focus will shift to the Pigneto quarter and the old Avorio cinema, a historic Roman theatre which closed down in 2009 and will re-open on a one-off basis for the duration of the festival: the first films that will be screened there, as part of the Alice/Panorama programme, will be The Wolfpack by Crystal Moselle and Street Opera by Haider Rashid. The former, which will be released in Italy on 22 October distributed by Wanted, tells the incredible true story of the six Angulo brothers, who were kept segregated from society by their father in a New York apartment and raised watching films; the latter is a foray into the world of Italian rap through the portraits of five artists who symbolise various currents and periods, one of whom, the leader of the Bestierare group, is played by Elio Germano.

On 21 October comes the turn of another great premiere, being shown out of competition: Game Therapy [+lire aussi :

, directed by Ryan Travis. The film, which will be hitting theatres on 22 October under the distribution of Key Films, is an action-fantasy movie starring Favij, Federico Clapis, Leonardo Decarli and Zoda, who have been the four most famous Italian webstars ever since they first appeared on the big screen.

Organised by Gianluca Giannelli and Fabia Bettini, Alice nella città is backed by the Directorate-General for Cinema of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, the Lazio Region, the municipality of Roma Capitale, the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Acea and BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas.
