Film London has teamed up with environmental and sustainability consultancy Greenshoot to help London’s screen industries go green. Funded by Creative Skillset, the Green Screen platform will help productions to save money, while also cutting carbon, reducing waste, and donating props, sets and costumes that are no longer required to schools and charities instead of sending them to landfill. Film London is actively encouraging all productions ranging from features, through television programmes, to documentaries and commercials to sign up to the initiative. Left Bank Pictures has confirmed that all of its television productions will seek Green Screen accreditation. 

As part of the process, productions submit data at the end of production to receive a green audit. Upon achieving their goals, they are awarded with an official Green Screen stamp that can be used on their endroll and promotional materials to demonstrate their green credentials. Once the initiative is established in London, the scheme will be introduced UK-wide. 

Wheatley said, “The Green Screen initiative really helped us to keep sustainability at the top of the agenda on a daily basis – something we were happy to do but also something that's very easy to let slide on a production.”
