Meetings on the Bridge : 20 projets sur le pont

Cet article est disponible en anglais.

The Istanbul Film Festival's industry section, Meetings on the Bridge, will take place from 8-14 April with the support of Anadolu Efes

While providing an opportunity for filmmakers to hold the first international presentations for their new film projects at the Film Development Workshop and films in post-production at Work in Progress, the gathering also aims to pave the way for co-productions. Since 2008, 42 projects have been awarded and funded with €588,614, and 36 of these films have been completed and screened at international festivals.

The writers, directors and producers of the projects selected for the Film Development Workshop had prep days with experts on scripts, production, pitching, marketing, social media and crowdfunding. The 11 projects will compete for awards including a $10,000 prize from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Melodika Sound Post-Production Award and the Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI) Script Workshop Award. The complete list of projects can be found here.

Aiming to offer gap-financing support for films from Turkey, Work in Progress will, in its fifth year, present a selection of films in post-production on 12 and 13 April to international distributors, festival and fund directors, and broadcasters. The international jury will decide which film or films will receive the following awards after watching the offline edit of the selected movies: the TL30,000 (€9,271) Anadolu Efes Award, the Digiflame Award (covering expenses for online editing and colour) and the Başka Sinema Award (screenings at Başka Sinema theatres without VPF). The complete list of projects can be found here.

Finally, Meetings on the Bridge launched the Neighbours platform last year in order to initiate new international collaborations and enhance communication between filmmakers from Turkey and neighbouring countries. The projects chosen this year hail from Greece, Georgia, Iran, Syria and Cyprus. The complete list of projects can be found here.
