Eurimages is currently holding its autumn conference in Tallinn, where Estonia hopes to impress by showcasing films, filmmakers, the city itself and plans for a new film studio, which will be opened in 2017.

“There’s symbolic significance in the fact that Eurimages will be holding its autumn conference in the heart of the Estonian film industry,” Estonian Film Institute (EFI) executive producer Piret Tibbo-Hudgins, said. "The last time such an opportunity opened up for Estonia was in 2005. This time around, we are welcoming more than 50 foreign guests including European film funds, decision-makers and the Eurimages management team."

Tibbo-Hudgins also mentioned how Estonian producers are more accepting of co-productions than ever before. "Co-poduction and finding additional financing from abroad is a reality of the European film industry and many of these are supported by Eurimages,” she said. "Year after year, the list of countries we have done co-productions with has increased, with latest countries on the list including Poland, the Netherlands, Spain and Iceland."

Estonia has been a member of Eurimages since 2004, with the Estonian representatives currently being Tibbo-Hudgins and EFI head Edith Sepp. Previous Estonian productions that have received Eurimages support include Oscar nominee Tangerines [+lire aussi :

Eurimages has also been collecting and analysing data about gender equality in the industry, through the Eurimages Gender Equality Group, and one of the talks in Tallinn’s Kinomaja on 17 October focused on ways in which Estonia could extend gender equality in the industry.
