The Association of Italian Documentary Makers doc/it has announced that the General State of Documentary will be held on 2 December 2016 in Rome at the headquarters of the Italian National Press Federation. The focus of the event will be above all on the new Film and Audiovisual Law, which was approved just a few days ago by the Italian Parliament, the reform of Rai Tv, and the new Law on Creative and Cultural Enterprise. To participate please confirm your attendance by 21 November by sending an email to segreteria@documentaristi.it.

“Doc/it believes it is important”, reads a press release, “to create a forum for discussion specifically for the documentary sector in this context of reform, to analyse what has been done and what still needs to be done to effectively re-launch and consolidate this genre, along with the production and direction sectors that support it”.

Over recent years, whilst models for enjoying content of the entire audiovisual system were undergoing profound change thanks to the use of the Internet and mobile devices, and distribution models were seeing the arrival on the market of new types of global operators making it possible for audiences to enjoy content online, the documentary genre gained new momentum by demonstrating its versatility and happy union with innovation, and is now one of the leading sectors of the Italian audiovisual industry, with its ability to reach new audiences all over the world.
