The project Puerto deseado by Spanish filmmaker Diana Toucedo has won the DCP DELUXE Award on the first edition of the PUSH PLAY Works-in-progress Session at the FICX Industry Days of the 55th Gijón International Film Festival. The award consists on the DCP Masterization of the project, valued in 6,000€.

The jury, formed by Nico Marzano, programming director at London’s Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), and Loïc Díaz Ronda, co-director of the Cinespaña Toulouse Festival, has highlighted this project because “elements of the sensory cinema are mixed in a personal and respectful research about a ship and its crew’s fight. Puerto deseado shows the potential to achieve an astonishing visual portrait of a working community and its frailness. We await with interest the result that Diana Toucedo can achieve for her audience once she has completed her work”.

Puerto deseado is a hybrid documentary. The director embarks on the fishing vessel led by her father, the last travel of this marine life before his retirement. Diana Toucedo travelled to the cold waters of the Argentinian South Atlantic to find the captain who has always been an absent father.
