The San Sebastián Film Festival has just unveiled the first titles that will be screened during the 66th of the gathering, which will take place from 21 to 29 September.

The festival’s most innovative and daring section, Zabaltegi-Tabakalera, has announced six titles from its selection. Two of them are (co-)produced by Spain: Trot [+lire aussi :

fiche film], the first feature by Galician filmmaker Xacio Baño (who has already been selected at the Locarno Film Festival with his short films), previously selected in the first edition of the festival's Ikusmira Berriak residencies programme, and Belmonte [+lire aussi :

fiche film], the latest film by Uruguayan filmmaker Federico Veiroj, whose films have been selected for Films in Progress, Horizontes Latinos, New Directors and the official selection at the festival (The Apostate [+lire aussi :

fiche film]. Furthermore, the first Donostia Award of the festival will be bestowed upon Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda, who won the latest Palme d'Or with his film Shoplifters. Kore-eda, who has already competed four times in the official selection of the festival and has carried off the Audience Award on two occasions, will be the first Asian filmmaker to receive this accolade.
