“This film is so powerful that it’s already been sold to France, Italy, Greece, Taiwan and China, but when it meets audiences at the Toronto and San Sebastián Film Festivals, it will have an even stronger impact,” asserts Antonio Saura, of Latido Films, referring to one of the star titles in the catalogue of the Madrid-based agency that he manages, backed up by Juan Torres and Óscar Alonso. The title in question is the Spanish-French co-production The Realm [+lire aussi :

, which enjoyed immense international success. Now, Antonio de la Torre and Mónica López have once again been working with the filmmaker on a nail-biting thriller about political corruption, which also stars Ana Wagener and Bárbara Lennie.

China, France, Switzerland and Italy, in addition to Germany and Belgium (for the time being), have also acquired another Spanish title (co-produced with France, Argentina and Uruguay) that has proven to be a resounding success on the Lido: A Twelve-Year Night [+lire aussi :

, the third feature by Álvaro Brechner, again with Antonio de la Torre in a leading role, flanked by Chino Darín and Alfonso Tort: “It was the most impressive ovation I’ve ever witnessed,” admits Saura, referring to the end of the world-premiere screening. “But the thing is that the same thing happened with the press conference, and then the audience chased the film team around to congratulate them, because although it tackles a tough subject matter, it contains hope and emotion – so much so that many of us will cry while watching it.”

Lastly, this spectacular kick-off for the line-up of films being handled by Latido Films will be further bolstered at the impending 66th San Sebastián Film Festival, where the firm’s team will be managing the sales for the aforementioned The Realm, which is competing in the official section, and A Twelve-Year Night, which will be shown in Horizontes Latinos.
