, the fourth feature by experienced writer-director Zaza Khalvashi, has been chosen by the Georgian National Film Center's selection committee to be the country's candidate for the Best Foreign-language Film Oscar at the 91st Academy Awards.

The visually stunning drama, shot by Giorgi Shvelidze and starring Mariska Diasamidze in the title role, which world-premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2017, was chosen over five other submissions: George Ovashvili's Khibula [+lire aussi :

, which was a co-production with Estonia and represented the Baltic country, but was directed by Georgia’s Zaza Urushadze.

Namme is another co-production with a Baltic country: in addition to Georgia's BAFIS, it was produced by Lithuania's Tremora. France’s Alpha Violet has the international rights.
