The 8th edition of Abycine Lanza will be held between 19 and 22 October as part of Abycine, which is now in its 25th year. The city of Albacete in La Mancha welcomes hundreds of audiovisual professionals who come to present or discover the films that people will be talking about in the coming years. As well as to attend different workshops, apply for grants and create key partnerships to give the final push to the projects that have been selected in the Impulso CMM Desarrollo section (17 films) and the eight feature films in post-production phase finalists of the Impulso Work in Progress.

In addition to the professional experience and networking opportunities provided by Abycine Lanza, those selected for Impulso WIP will be eligible for a one-off grant of €7,000 and the Filmin WIP Abycine Lanza Award, worth €22,000. All the projects automatically become part of the Abycine Lanza On the Road programme, an initiative that promotes the circulation, promotion and visibility throughout Spain of the titles that have gone through the Impulso Work in Progress of Abycine Lanza once the films have been completed. This is supported by the ICAA for talent laboratories and incubators from the Next Generation funds of the European Union, as well as the collaboration of AB Audiovisual. The MAFIZ Award will once again be given, with one of the finalist titles participating in the 2024 edition of the Malaga Festival market.

In the Impulso CMM Desarrollo section, 17 titles will be eligible for the different grants and awards offered by this forum. This year, more than 150 projects have been presented and analysed by a committee. All of them have been selected based on their creativity and originality according to the project’s development phase, and are a great showcase for the cinema of the coming years.

Project representatives will be able to enjoy the platform provided by Abycine Lanza to create partnerships with other producers, sales agents and distributors, festivals and national and European film institutions attending the market. Two of the finalists are productions linked to Castilla-La Mancha. In addition, this year, projects selected in markets and entities partnered with Lanza have joined, such as Cantabria Film Commission, Atlántida Film Festival and Noka, of the Basque Government.

This year, the public broadcaster Radiotelevisión de Castilla-La Mancha (CMM) is once again the main partner of Abycine Lanza for the development of this section, as the finalists will be eligible for one of the two grants of €17,250 each. They can also hope to win one of the two prizes awarded by the ECAM, consisting of individual consultancy with an expert of recognised prestige, adapted to the specific needs of the project.
