Martina Bleis, head of the Berlinale Co-Production Market and curator of Co-Pro Series, stated: “The selection this year is remarkably diverse, but all of the projects provide a combination of excellent entertainment and substantial depth. Very experienced series creators and producers have been invited, as well as successful filmmakers venturing into series-making for the first time and those with a completely fresh perspective. We are very much looking forward to the Co-Pro Series Pitches with projects and potential partners here in Berlin, and we can hardly wait to see these series completed.”

The host country, Germany, presents two noteworthy projects. The Werewolf & Renée is a historical and contemporary Bonnie & Clyde narrative about the Marquise de Sade and her husband, crafted by renowned director Katrin Gebbe (The Empress). Another German contribution is Wolves by Sina Ataeian Dena (Paradise [+lire aussi :

), marking the first animated series featured in Co-Pro Series, a co-production with the Czech Republic and Iran. Utilising rotoscoping technology, the show narrates a personal journey of reckoning and revenge, offering a unique perspective on the shadowy underworld of Tehran.

Spain also brings two projects to the event. Death to Love by Carlota Pereda (Piggy [+lire aussi :

) portrays the struggles of an abandoned vampire attempting to cope with her separation from her girlfriend – who, coincidentally, is also a vampire. From the Basque Country, Executioners was initially unveiled at Series Mania last spring and revolves around a group of teenagers who stumble upon the victim of a political kidnapping in the 1990s. They navigate the challenges posed by extremism, their parental generation’s pursuit of independence and their own yearning for freedom.

Switzerland brings along The Palm Line by Fulvio Bernasconi (Mercy [+lire aussi :

), unravelling family dynamics as a journalist investigates her father's involvement in Italy's largest art heist, with her becoming a target of the mafia. In Mirrors, from Bosnia and Herzegovina, helmed by Aida Begić (A Ballad [+lire aussi :

), a family's self-image is jolted as long-buried secrets resurface following the death of the beloved matriarch. On another front, The Coroner's Assistant, a creation by Elina Psykou (Son of Sofia [+lire aussi :

), unfolds as a political thriller set in 1970s Greece addressing femicide, cover-up attempts and corruption.

The darkly humorous thriller S.O.L., a UK-Swedish co-production, explores climate change and philanthropy as it follows a millionaire with noble intentions of making a better world, only to inadvertently push it closer to the brink. From Argentina, Witness 36, the brainchild of Daniel Burman (Yosi, the Regretful Spy), explores invented biographies within the clandestine realms of secret services and witness-protection programmes. Concluding the line-up, Namibia's The Man with the Crooked Arm, led by Perivi John Katjavivi, revisits colonial history through an extraordinary western drama.
