Pierre-Yves Vandeweerd
Was born on November 13, 1969 in Liège. He studied journalism, anthropology, and African cultures.
Since 1994 he has made a number of documentaries (Témoins jusqu'à la mort , 1996, Maalouma, la voix de l'opposition, 1997, Sida d'ici et de là-bas, 1998, Nemadis, the Years Without News, 2000, Racines lointaines , 2002, Closed District, 2004, Le nouvel âge glaciaire , 2005), most of which were filmed in Africa.
In the last two years he has created a writing and documentary film workshop for young Senegalese filmmakers at the Dakar Media Center.
