Douglas Gordon

Douglas Gordon’s practice encompasses video, film, installation, sculpture, photography and text. Through his work, he investigates human conditions such as memory and the passage of time, as well as universal dualities such as life and death, good and evil, right and wrong. He is the recipient of the 1996 Turner Prize, the Premio Duemila for Best Young Artist at the 1997 Venice Biennale, and the 1998 Hugo Boss Prize. In May 2008, he is awarded the Roswitha Haftmann-Preis by the Kunsthaus Zürich and, in 2012, the Käthe Kollwitz Prize from the Akademie der Künste, Berlin. In 2006, he co-signs with Philippe Parreno Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait, which earns him a César nomination for Best Documentary.
