Iginio Straffi

Born and raised in Italy, Iginio started professional work in the field of comic book drawing for Italian publishers Comics Art and later Sergio Bonelli Editore, where he worked on the Nick Raider series.

He later moved to France then to Luxemburg to follow his true passion: cartoons. In 1995, he moved back to Italy and founded Rainbow animation studio, initially providing services for other studios, but eventually producing its first original property the Tommy and Oscar animated CD (1996) and later TV series (1999) - it was an immediate success!

His tracking record of creating successful cartoons meant Iginio could concentration even more ambitious and demanding project: the television series Winx Club.

He has made an important contribution to the spread of Italian products all over the world for which he was awarded the prestigious honor in June 2009 of "Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic" awarded by the Head of State. (Source: Rome film festival)
