Álex de la Iglesia
Alex de la Iglesia was born in 1965 in the Spanish town of Bilbao where he studied philosophy. He made his debut as a feature film director in 1992 with ACCIÓN MUTANTE, produced by Pedro Almodóvar. Made in 1995, his second film EL DÍA DE LA BESTIA earned him no less than six Goya awards. His 2010 work BALADA TRISTE DE TROMPETA was screened at the Venice Film Festival and received awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay. He was president of the Spanish organisation Academia de las Artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas from 2009 to 2011. (Source : Berlin Film Festival)
