Bent Hamer
A film director, writer and producer, born in Sandefjord, Norway in 1956. Hamer studied film theory and literature at the University of Stockholm and at the Stockholm Film School. In addition to his feature films, he has written and directed a number of short films and documentaries.
His feature O´Horten competed in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes 2008. He also wrote and directed Factotum based on the novel of the same name by US poet and writer Charles Bukowski, Kitchen Stories and Eggs (1995), with the two latter enjoying screening at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes and winning the FIPRESCI Award.
Kitchen Stories moreover bagged the Europa Cinéma Award. Hamer is the owner and founder of the BulBul Film Association, established in Oslo in 1994.
