Andrzej Jakimowski

Polish director, screenwriter, producer. Born in 1963 in Warsaw. He graduated in philosophy from the University of Warsaw and in film directing from the Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia. His debut feature Squint Your Eyes (2003) won numerous awards, including the main prize at the San Francisco IFF 2004. His second feature Tricks (2007) won over 30 prizes at international film festivals, including the Europa Cinemas Label for best European film and the Laterna Magica Prize at the Venice festival 2007 (Giornate degli Autori). It was the Polish candidate for an Oscar in 2009. His latest film Imagine premiered at the Toronto festival. (Source Waraw Film Festival)
