Carla Subirana

Carla Subirana, film and TV director and script writer, was born in Barcelona in 1972. She graduated in Audiovisual Communication at the Pompeu Fabra University, and became interested in documentary by the hand of Jean-Louis Comolli. She writes and produces programs for Televisión Española, Televisió de Catalunya and Barcelona Televisió. After collaborating with other filmmakers, like Joaquín Jordá, Subiriana plucked up courage to make her film debut. She filmed Nadar (2008), a personal sample of memorialist essay which was born after researching on her grandfather execution. Parallel to her director career, which is now on the rise with Volar, Subiriana teaches at the Ramón Llull and Pompeu Fabra universities, in the Film and Television grade, in the Master’s degree in Audiovisual Production and Editing, and in the Documentary Creation.
