From 12-15 June, nigh-on 3,000 professionals will gather at the MIFA (International Animated Film Market), the 28th edition of which includes several new additions, such as market screenings (open to producers, distributors and sales agents), a Shoot the Book Anim (with ten books selected that have been judged viable for an animated film adaptation) and a Meet the Composers programme. Among the main events on the schedule are the Pitches (37 projects, including the French-Italian title Chicken for Linda! by Chiara Malta and Sébastien LaudenbachGolem by Italy’s Lorenzo Ceccotti, and the Canadian-French co-production The Panda Project by Clément Langlais), the Territory Focuses, the Mifa Campus (sponsored by Richard Williams), and the press conferences organised by studios and TV channels, in addition to myriad workshops, round-tables and panels. All of this makes for an increasingly successful market that has also become an unmissable crossroads for recruiting the young animation talents of tomorrow. Lastly, we should point out that a Mifa Animation Industry Award will be handed out to the Women in Animation (WIA) association.
