 (FIPRESCI Award in the parallel sections on the Croisette in 2010, after being presented in the Directors’ Fortnight). Now, for the first time, he will be shooting in Spain – in Galicia, to be precise, the region where his ancestors are from.

Written by Laxe together with Santiago Fillol, the movie tells the story of a pyromaniac who is released from prison and returns to his mother in a tiny village tucked away in the mountains. Fire Will Come will be a film about farmers, their age-old traditions and their lined faces. But also, and above all, it will be a film about fire and its destructive, unpredictable and indomitable power. It is the ultimate force of nature, at once alluring and frightening, deadly, and with a rare and untamed beauty…

Executive-produced by Spain’s Miramemira and France’s 4 A 4 ProductionsFire Will Come is being co-produced by Kowalski Films (Spain) and Tarantula Luxembourg. The feature has also secured backing from Eurimages, the CNC’s World Cinema Support, the Film Fund Luxembourg, TVG (Televisión de Galicia) and the Galicia region, where the six-week shoot will take place. Pyramide will also be distributing the film in France. 

The international sales department of Pyramide (the company is headed up as a whole by Eric Lagesse) will see Agathe Mauruc take over from Agathe Valentin (who is heading off in search of new adventures) at the end of June.
