During the Polish Film Institute’s (PFI's) second session of 2018, the heads of the five funding committees (Krzysztof Koehler, Jan Jakub Kolski, Krzysztof Lang, Michał Oleszczyk and Małgorzata Szumowska) decided that eight projects would be supported with a total sum of PLN 15.05 million (€3.5 million).

Apart from Maciej Barczewski’s debut, Prisoner 77 (Więzień 77), three other first-time directors were given production grants. Dry Land (Sucha ziemia) by Agnieszka Woszczyńska (whose short film Fragments was presented in the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in 2014) received PLN 1.7 million (€396,000), while Daria Woszek was given PLN 1.5 million (€349,605). The third debuting director, who was granted PLN 1.7 million (€396,000) by the PFI, is Bartosz Blaschke, and his project is entitled Sonata [+leggi anche:

, was presented in the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in 2015 and won three Guldbagge Awards) got PLN 2.1 million (€489,510), and House of the Chosen Ones (Dom wybranych) by Wojciech Nowak was granted PLN 1.8 million (€419,580). The final supported project is the third feature by Kuba Czekaj, entitled Lipstick on the Glass [+leggi anche:

There is one grant session left for 2018, and this will encompass minority co-productions. The deadline for applications is 31 August.
