Green Book di Peter Farrelly

Questo articolo è disponibile in inglese.

For the 41st time, the audience has picked the winner at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and Green Book by Peter Farrelly, in his first directorial endeavour without his brother Bobby, was voted as the public's favourite, snatching the Grolsch People’s Choice Award. Set in the American South in the 1960s and starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen, the film, like the other recent winners of the award, could become a possible Best Picture Oscar nominee. The 43rd TIFF, which ran from 6-16 September, concluded with the closing ceremony at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, hosted by Piers Handling, in his last appearance as CEO and director of TIFF, and Cameron Bailey, the artistic director of the gathering.

Three US documentaries captured the audience’s hearts. The Grolsch People’s Choice Documentary Award went to Free Solo by E Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, which follows the attempt by renowned rock climber Alex Honnold to ascend the El Capitan cliff without any assistance. The two runners-up were This Changes Everything by Tom Donahue, which focuses on the #TimesUp movement, and the farming chronicles of John Chester in The Biggest Little Farm.
