(in competition at Toronto and San Sebastian in 2016). This time around,Bonello will play on the border between ethnology and fantasy by focusing on the destiny of a Haitian girl called Clairvius Narcisse, victim of a voodoo spell that has turned her into a zombie. Jumping between stories and eras, from 1962 Haiti to modern-day Paris, and between Narcisse, a 15-year-old Haitian girl and her aunt, a voodoo priestess, the director will place the Haitian zombie – and the origins of the cinematographic genre – in a historical and political context. Filming is due to take place in France at the end of 2018 and in Haiti in January 2019. Production is being handled by My New Pictures and Les Films du Bal.
