Helmed by Belgian director Olivier Van Hoofstadt and produced by Luc Besson, Go Fast, which began lensing on May 14, has completed its three-week shoot in Spain and will now head to France.

film profile]) and Belgium’s Olivier Gourmet, the second feature by the director of the offbeat comedy Dikkenek is an extremely realistic and violent crime drama on Go Fast, the name given by the police to drug traffickers who travel across Spain at 250 km/h to supply French dealers with Moroccan goods.

Generally composed of three highly powerful cars (the first leads the way and detects checkpoints, the second transports up to half a ton of drugs and the third blocks the rear), these Mad Max convoys led by drivers fuelled up on amphetamines and cocaine are very difficult for the police to track down and stop except when the vehicles tank up.

Co-written by Franck Parker, Emmanuel Prévost and Bibi Nacéri (Banlieue 13, La Mentale), Go Fast follows police officer Marek (Zem), who loses his colleague and best friend during an operation against a drug trafficking network.

Transferred to a new department specialising in undercover work, Marek must infiltrate a gang who use Go Fast to send large quantities of cannabis resin from the south of Spain to French towns in no time.

Produced by EuropaCorp and Avalanche Productions (Prévost), Go Fast carries a €7.5m budget. Shooting will end on August 17 and may include a few days in Morocco after a few weeks in and around Paris.

The film is scheduled for completion in spring 2008. EuropaCorp will handle its French release and international sales.
