IDFA showcasing 21 German titles

The International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA), to be held in Amsterdam from November 19-29, features 21 German (co)productions in the line-up of its 22nd edition.

The Competition section of feature-length documentaries includes the German co-productions Freetime Machos by Mika Ronkainen, War Games and the Men Who Stopped Them by Dariusz Jablonski and Jaffa, The Orange’s Clockwork by Israeli filmmaker Eyal Sivan, who is furthermore the subject of a retrospective this year.

Popular films will be shown in the Best of Fests sidebar, including the co-productions Kassim the Dream by Dief Davidson, Pianomania by Lilian Franck and Robert Cibis, Wagah by Supriyo Sen and the short My Super Sea Wall by Gina Abatemarco.

IDFA’s Masters section will present Hunger by Marcus Vetter and Karin Steinberger, Doug Block’s The Kids Grow Up and Scientists Under Attack: Science in the Magnetic Field of Money by Bertram Verhaag; while Paradocs is presenting Double Take by Johan Grimonprez.

The FORUM for Co-financing of Documentaries, the largest of its kind in Europe, will be held once again during the festival, from November 23-26. The three German co-productions among the selected international projects to be presented in a pitching session are Sergey Bukowski’s six-part series Farewell Comrades! (Gebrueder Beetz), Peter Heller’s Sweet Poison (Lichtfilm) and Nadav Schirman’s In the Dark Room (Pandora Film).
