Sönke Wortmann’s
Pope Joan [
trailer], starring Johanna Wokalek and John Goodman, has exceeded the 2m admissions mark.
This highly intriguing biopic drew 372,000 viewers in its first weekend on release (and over 557,000 in its first week). After five weeks, box office results show that the film’s audience-pulling power remains strong.

It continues to climb the annual rankings (last week, it went from 18th to 16th place) and, among (majority) German productions, is only outstripped by
Vicky the Viking [

Männerherzen [
trailer] (which was launched at the start of October and surpassed the 2m admissions threshold the previous week).
Pope Joan is still showing in 535 theatres.
