Italians and Europeans hold their own against Avatar

Avatar (Fox) continues its hit run, once again number one at the weekend box office with €8.7m and a total gross in Italy of €25.1m in ten days. Carlo Verdone’s Io, Loro e Lara (Warner) drops to third with €1.23m and an overall box office of €14.1m since January 5. Paolo Virzì’s La Prima Cosa Bella [trailer] (Medusa) is in at number four with just over €1.2m (and €3.1m in ten days).

Making its debut in eighth position was Cuccioli: Il Codice Marco Polo with €322,000. Fatih Akin’s Soul Kitchen [trailer] (BIM) holds on to the number ten slot with weekend earnings of €175,102 (and just over €1.1m since January 8).
