A new concept for new Shooting Stars

European Film Promotion (EFP) has announced a new concept for its renowned event Shooting Stars.

For ten years, each EFA member country has selected one national emerging acting talent, who is then introduced to both industry and international media along with their fellow Europeans, in a ceremony held at the Berlin Film Festival. Now, national film bodies will still select their beloved actors but their performances will for the first time be submitted to a jury appointed by the EFP.

Only nine of the 22 young talents will attend the Berlinale and take part in several PR events, which include the stage ceremony at the Palast, a party with decision-makers from the film industry, “speed dating” with international casting directors and a press conference. The selection will be announced in early December.

Presided over by German cinematographer Michael Ballhaus, the jury will comprise UK actress Lucy Russell (François Ozon's Angel [+see also:

), Danish producer Vibeke Windeløv, US personal manager Derek Power and Italian casting director Beatrice Kruger.
