by

- After more than 25 years at ‘Les Films du Losange’, she has been elected as the head of the agency for the promotion of French cinema. She takes over from Daniel Toscan du Plantier

The period of transition at Unifrance is now over, after the board of directors met yesterday and elected Margaret Menegoz as the new president. The post had been vacant since February 11, following the death of Toscan du Plantier.
Menegoz has been the head of the Les Films du Losange production company since 1975, and the many works she produced include almost all the films by Eric Rohmer, the first works by Jean-Claude Brisseau, Our Lady of the Assassins by Barbet Schroeder and The Time of the Wolf by Michael Haneke.

She has been the president of a commission set up by the Centre National de la Cinématographie and a member of the French-German Cinema Academy. Margaret Menegoz is known for her extremely international outlook on production. She champions the cause of European productions, and in October 2002, at the Beaune Film Meetings, she stressed the importance of creating the new craft of European producer.
