Gunslinger, Revolver Entertainment’s low budget production arm, has begun principal photography at London locations on girl gang thriller Sket. The film is writer/director Nirpal Bhogal’s feature directorial debut.

The film follows a 16-year-old girl who swears revenge when her protective elder sister is brutally murdered by a misogynist gang leader.

Gunslinger’s Director of Production Nick Taussig and Daniel Toland (Shank) and Terry Stone (Rise of the Footsoldier) on behalf of Gateway Films are producing.

The cast includes Ashley Walters (Anuvahood), Emma Hartley Miller (Wasted) and Lily Loveless (Thorne: Sleepyhead) and introduces Aimee Kelly as the female lead. Revolver will release the film in the UK in autumn 2011.

Revolver is also backing Tom Green’s (TV’s Misfits) debut Spike Island. The film tells the story of a group of council estate lads and unsigned young indie band Shadowcaster on a cathartic journey to see their idols, iconic British band The Stone Roses, play at Spike Island. The recording of the Roses’ live performance there is considered to be their greatest ever.

The film is written by actor Chris Coghill (24 Hour Party People [+see also:

) and produced by Fiona Nielson and Esther Douglas of Fiesta Productions and supported by the UK Film Council development funding. The band has signed up to offer its music and the odd cameo. Filming is set to begin the first half of 2011.

Green said, “This is a raw and truly authentic rites of passage story. It’s full of the humour, heartache, dreams and fears of being part of a brotherhood of mates, and set to the greatest record ever written. The Roses died in ‘95. This is the resurrection.”
