A la vie by Jean-Jacques Zilbermann for the Ile-de-France region

On June 23rd, Jean-Jacques Zilbermann (photo) will begin filming his 5th feature film, A la vie, which stands out from the nine projects selected by the second 2013 session of the Fonds de soutien aux industries techniques cinématographiques et audiovisuelles of the Ile-de-France region.

The cast features Julie Depardieu, Canadian actress Suzanne Clément (rewarded in the Certain Regard section in Cannes in 2012 for Laurence Anyways [+see also:

) and Dutch actress Joanna Ter Steege. Written by the director with Danièle Dumas and Odile Barski, the screenplay focuses on three former deportees from Auschwitz who are reunited on Berck-Plage, 15 years after the war. During these few days, everything is a first: first meal, first ice-cream, first swim in the sea... Laughing, giving, singing, confronting memories and arguing... Produced by Marie Masmonteil and Denis Carot for Elzévir FilmsA la vie will benefit from a 5.9 M€ budget including amongst other things a France 3 Cinéma coproduction, pre-purchase by Canal+, funding from the CRRAV and 288,000 euros from the Ile-de-France region, where 23 of the 43 days of filming will take place. French distribution and international sales will be handled by Le Pacte.

The Ile-de-France region will also fund Les Films Hatari in the amount of 396,000 euros for Le grand homme (qui ne voulait pas mourir), Sarah Leonor’s second feature film after A Real Life [+see also:

, appreciated in competition in Locarno in 2009.

Also selected for funding, Trois coeurs by Benoît Jacquot (Rectangle Productions – 216,000 euros) which will be filmed starting in September (with Belgian actor Benoît Poelvoorde and French actresses Catherine DeneuveCharlotte Gainsbourg and Léa Seydoux in the cast), and L’homme que l’on aimait trop by André Téchiné (news – starring Catherine Deneuve with Guillaume Canet and Adèle Haenel – a Fidélité Films production  – 243,000 euros).

The other projects selected by the Ile-De-France region are Les jours venus by Romain Goupil (Les Films du Losange – 315,000 euros), 24 jours Ilan by Alexandre Arcady (Alexandre Films – 432,000 euros, inspired by the Gang des Barbares case), Les gazelles by Mona Achache (Recifilms – 396,000 euros – the tale of a woman who returns to being single), Hippocrate by Thomas Lilti (article - with Vincent Lacoste, Jacques Gamblin and Reda Kateb in the cast - 31 Juin Films – 432,000 euros) and the documentary project Macadam Pop Corn by Jean-Pierre Pozzi (Ciel de Paris Productions).
