18/07/2013 - Until August 24th, Xavier Diskeuve is shooting Jacques a vu in the Namur region, his first feature film with Christelle Cornil, Nicolas Buysse and François Maniquet

Xavier Diskeuve just began the shooting of his first feature film, Jacques a vu [+see also:

film profile], in the region of Namur. The film follows the mishaps of Brice, a young townsman who recently settled in a small village in the Ardennes region and wants to stand up to a huge project of Dutch holidays resorts. To do so, he attempts to accredit the alleged apparitions of the Virgin Mary of his cousin Jacques, a taciturn farmer. But the unexpected answer of the Vatican will radically transform his village and turn Brice’s life and that of his couple into a living nightmare.

Xavier Diskeuve wants to make Jacques a vu into a contemporary fable, imbued with the collective imagination of these Ardennes regions, which built a real mythology following the apparitions of the Virgin in the 30’s. A reflection on the confrontation between these neo-rural people who leave towns in search of a better world, more authentic, and the original rural population, rooted in their rituals and habits. He is reunited with the trio of actors he had already directed in Mon Cousin Jacques (2004), in which the taciturn farmer’s character makes his first appearance, played by François Maniquet.
