La Sapienza, a love story between architecture and feelings
- Shooting for French director Eugène Green’s latest film kicked off today. The film is set to be produced by Italian Alessandro Borrelli for Sarraz Pictures and by Martine de Clermont-Tonerre for French Mact Productions
Shooting for La Sapienza by Eugène Green, produced by Italian Alessandro Borrelli for La Sarraz Pictures and Martine de Clermont-Tonnerre for French Mact Productions started today and is due to conclude in exactly one month, on October 12. Locations are to include Bisson, Stresa, Turin and Rome.
The film’s title recalls one of Borromini’s most extraordinary projects: the Sant’Ivo church at La Sapienza in Rome.
The story is one of an architect that has lost his inspiration and goes looking for those motivations that pushed him as a youngster to take up the profession. Inspiring him was the baroque movement and all of its artifices: the Guarini in Turin and the Borromini in Rome. The film’s central story ends up being the love story that develops between architecture, artistic inspiration and feelings.
The film’s stars are Fabrizio Rongione (Belgian born with Italian origins, star of the next Dardenne brother film, who also starred with De Maria, Corapi and Francesca Comencini in Diaz [+see also:

French director Eugène Green, who is also behind the film’s conception and screenplay has previously directed Toutes les nuits (2001), which won the Louis Delluc award, and Le nom du feu, presented in Locarno in 2002. After Le monde vivant, selected in Cannes in 2003, Green directed Le Pont des Arts which he also presented in Locarno (2005) and Les signes (2006).
La Sapienza’s technical staff includes director of photography Raphael O’Byrne, sound by being Mirko Guerra and Sonia Portoghese (Seven Acts of Mercy [+see also:
