Wallimage has just announced the results of its 50th selection session, during which two international co-productions were chosen. Pilgrimage, by Irish director Brendan Muldowney, tells the story of the trek undertaken by a group of monks into the heart of the hostile wilderness in the early 13th century. The title is being co-produced by the brand-new production outfit Wrong Men North, created by Benoît Roland, formerly of Entre chien et loup. , an animated film by the Dutch director Michael Dudok de Wit, internationally renowned for his poetic works in watercolour and charcoal. His film Father & Daughter received the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 2001. This ambitious project, taken on by Why Not Productions and Wild Bunch in France, has received the support of Arte and will be co-produced by Studio Ghibli (founded by Japanese guru Miyazaki). A large proportion of the animation will be carried out in the Dreamwall studios in Belgium.

Initially titled La Fille de Dieu (God’s Daughter), and with Daniel Auteuil playing God, the film will finally reunite Benoît Poelvoorde and Yolande Moreau, who will be working under the direction of Jaco Van Dormael for the first time. The title will be produced in Belgium by Climax Films and Terra Incognita (Van Dormael’s company), and will be co-produced in France by Après le deluge and in Luxembourg by Juliette Films (Post Partum [+see also:

), where the film has just also received a substantial amount of backing from Fonds Spa. Shooting is due to take place this summer.
