film profile] (presented during Directors’ Fortnight in 2011). Produced by Alfama, the film, which will begin shooting soon, will star Melvil Poupaud, Dominique Blanc and Jean-François Stévenin. Written by the director himself, the screenplay starts in 1959 with a functioning guillotine. But the head of the condemned man will not die until it has pronounced its last words: “I assure you that in the path that has brought me here, I was not guilty, but a victim! Allow me during the time of this last breath, to convince you of the truth!”

Two projects going through pre-production will also be showcased: thriller Cosmos by Polish Andrzej Zulawski and historical drama An Outpost of Progress by Portuguese Hugo Vieira Da Silva.

Being screened for the marketplace in its international premiere will be Casanova Variations by Michael Sturminger, a French Austrian feature length film, which mixes fiction with opera, starring John Malkovich, the star in a story following Casanova’s chronicles.

Worth highlighting among the projects, Body Artist by Benoît Jacquot, an adaptation by Paulo Branco and Julia Roy of an American novel by Don DeLillo, and German, French, Polish production, The Captain by Robert Schwentke.
