16/12/2014 - The Hungarian director has won the award for the best project at the Les Arcs Festival, while Pioneer Heroes has snagged the Work in Progress Award

Given out for the first time at the Les Arcs European Film Festival, the Arte International Prize has singled out The Voice by Hungarian director György Pálfi as the best project in development from among the titles selected in the Coproduction Village.

Staged by Ferenc Pusztai for KMH Film and already supported by French outfit Sciapode and Hungarian firm Origo, The Voice centres on the story of a Hungarian scientist who goes to a conference in Stockholm in 1974 and never returns home. Some 30 years later, while watching television, his son finds out about the existence of a secret military research project that took place in the 1970s. He soon realises that his father was involved, and that could be the reason for his disappearance. He leaves right away for the United States and starts to search for him, following hot on his trail... 

Among the previous feature films by Pálfi, who is a regular at the major festivals, we could mention such titles as Hukkle, Taxidermia [+see also:

The Work in Progress Award went to Pioneer Heroes by Russian director Nataliya Kudryashova, a feature debut that had some particularly promising clips from it shown at Les Arcs.
